(This was asked in IAS exam!)
A very simple but cnfusing puzzle..!!
.
.
A lady buys goods worth Rs.200 from a shop. (shopkeeper selling the goods with zero profit)
..
The lady gives him 1000 rs note.
The shopkeeper gets the change from the next shop and keeps 200 for himself and returns Rs.800 to the lady.
..
Later the shopkeepr of the next shop comes with the 1000 rs note saying “duplicate” and takes his money back.
.
.
How much LOSS did the shopkeeper face.?
..

:/ :/

Loss is 1000 rupees . Here is an easy way to solve without much mathematics. The net transaction of shopkeeper from neighbouring shopkeeper is 0 as he took 1000 (real)bucks earlier and returned 1000 (real) bucks later. So the only loss is from the lady(no pun intended ). lady took stuff worth 200 bucks (same value for shopkeeper as he didn’t make any profit) plus she he gave her 800(real) bucks, so total loss is 200+800=1000 rupees. no need to do so much calculations.
